McDonough has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Luella Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McDonough knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully the Lions likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, McDonough faced the Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McDonough suffered a tough 79-57 loss at the hands of the Knights. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but McDonough couldn't quite close it out.
Despite their loss, McDonough saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Keenan Gray, who scored 22 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Greene, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Luella pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The contest between them and Lovett wasn't particularly close, with Luella falling 70-55.
McDonough's loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-3. As for Luella, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for McDonough against the Lions when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 73-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDonough since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
