The Regis Groff Fusion will head out on the road to face off against the Denver West Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Regis Groff pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 83-60 defeat to Denver North might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Regis Groff has suffered against Denver North since January 22, 2019.
Regis Groff's defeat came about despite a quality game from Miguel Morales, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mahmoud Ibrahim was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Denver West suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Northfield on the road and fell 88-46. While losing is never fun, Denver West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Northfield is ranked 25th).
Despite their loss, Denver West saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Dallas, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Parker, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Regis Groff are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. As for Denver West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Regis Groff hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.9 points per game. However, it's not like Denver West struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 56.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Regis Groff was dealt a bruising 75-48 defeat at the hands of Denver West when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Regis Groff, Devin Tsosie (who scored 19 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
