The Syracuse Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 45-19 defeat at the hands of Stanton County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Syracuse has scored all season.
Stanton County found their leader in underclassman Avery Scott, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Scott is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lexy Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Syracuse's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Stanton County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse will square off against Wiley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stanton County will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Southwestern Heights on January 29th.
