The Plainview Pirates had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hartington-Newcastle by a score of 48-36. This was payback for Plainview, who suffered a 47-41 loss the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Abbie Kromarek, who scored 19 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Plainview's points. Another player making a difference was Teya Boyer, who scored ten points.
Plainview is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Hartington-Newcastle, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
Plainview and Osmond/Randolph will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Osmond/Randolph will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Plainview is ranked 106th). As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will head out on the road to take on Winnebago at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winnebago has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
