The Pauls Valley Panthers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-35 bruising from Madill on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pauls Valley of the 56-50 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2020.
Madill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Wilkerson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. Wilkerson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylan James, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Pauls Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Madill, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Pauls Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Bridge Creek at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridge Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 510 points over their last seven matches. Madill won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Idabel at 8:00 p.m. on January 20th. Idabel is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
