Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Fort Wayne Northrop, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Braves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Bruins on Friday. While the Braves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Max Warner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Jonathon Scheumann looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

Warner wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Wood, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian will square off against Leo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Braves 3.3, the Lions 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they will challenge Homestead at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Bruins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
