Baseball Recap: Asheboro Hybrid Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Asheboro Hybrid Academy lost to Gospel Light Christian last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Asheboro Hybrid Academy walked away with a 6-2 win over Gospel Light Christian. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cooper Deal made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Asheboro Hybrid Academy's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Deal was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Asheboro Hybrid Academy got a massive performance out of Seth Autry, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Autry has become a key player for Asheboro Hybrid Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Cooke, who scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy's record now sits at 3-4. As for Gospel Light Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Asheboro Hybrid Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-11 win against Cornerstone Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Gospel Light Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-0 defeat against Triad Baptist Christian Academy on the 24th.
