Oakridge hasn't had much luck against Regis recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Oakridge Warriors will head out to square off against the Regis Rams at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Oakridge turned things around against Country Christian on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 9-3 win.
Kayden Tiller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Tiller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jasper Spoon, who scored two runs and stole a base. Another player making a difference was Quinton Barker, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Regis). They blew past Waldport 15-1 on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Like Oakridge, Regis also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Eaton. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eaton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Korben Schumacher was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Rook Smith was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Regis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Regis' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Oakridge, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Oakridge suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Regis in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Oakridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
