Rogue River lost to Lost River 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Cascade Christian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,951 from 5,024. The improvement was largely due to a 47-27 victory over Gold Beach last week.
Illinois Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. C.J. Manning threw for 153 yards and T.J. Hughey had 53 yards receiving. On the ground James Thompson chipped in 209 yards. Myles Hodge helped Illinois Valley's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 58 yards.
Thompson was a passing and rushing force as the Cougars fell to South Umpqua. Thompson's key target this week was Hughey, who caught 5 passes for 53 yards.
Thompson was the most successful running back in 3A Special District 1 this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 209 yards as Illinois Valley fell to the Lancers.
Illinois Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Manning has thrown for 865 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Hughey has 15 catches for 211 yards.
Thompson of the Raymond Yarbrough's team is just 72 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Thompson has rushed for 928 yards on 96 carries so far this year.
The Chieftains are currently in fourth, while the Challengers are in second.
Cascade Christian led the league in scoring this week by notching 47 points on the Panthers.
