Basketball Recap: Atascadero Has No Trouble Against Sierra Pacific

Atascadero won the last time they faced Sierra Pacific and things went their way on Saturday too. The Atascadero Greyhounds blew past the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears 78-58. The Greyhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Several Golden Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keoni Oliveira, who posted 17 points and five steals. Oliveira is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Nevin Pitkin, who earned 11 points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Atascadero has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Sierra Pacific, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atascadero will head out to take on Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Atascadero surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sierra Pacific, they will venture away from home to challenge Mission Oak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Oak knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Sierra Pacific likes a good challenge.
