On Saturday, Lakeside Lutheran was able to grind out a solid win over New Berlin West, taking the game 59-52. Given Lakeside Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while New Berlin West is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside Lutheran's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wes Rahn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Reinke, who scored 11 points along with three steals and two blocks.
The win makes it two in a row for Lakeside Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 13-1. As for New Berlin West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Lakeside Lutheran will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Columbus is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for New Berlin West, they will head out on the road to challenge Shorewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
