Assumption is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Mother McAuley. The Rockets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Mighty Macs. The victory was familiar territory for the Rockets, who have now won four contests in a row.

Assumption had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 17-25, 31-29, 25-17.

Loss or not, Mother McAuley got some senior leadership from Emily Zaper and Lucy Maloney. Zaper had 20 digs, nine kills, four blocks, and two aces, while Maloney had 26 digs and four assists. Maloney has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyson Cahill, who had four digs and four blocks.

Assumption's win bumped their record up to 25-4. As for Mother McAuley, they moved to 22-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak.

Looking ahead, Assumption will host Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mother McAuley, they will head out on the road to take on Downers Grove North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
