Osceola has gone 8-2 against Pinellas Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Osceola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pinellas Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Osceola is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering River Ridge just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-4 to the Royal Knights.
Richard Stegbauer put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Stegbauer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Stegbauer, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pinellas Park narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Bell Creek Academy 4-2.
Nathan Timpe looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Daunte Dixon, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Pinellas Park is 2-1 when Dixon posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-12-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Merryweather, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Pinellas Park's win bumped their record up to 10-13-1. As for Osceola, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Osceola has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pinellas Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Osceola beat Pinellas Park 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
