The Southwest Roughriders had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They managed a 48-42 win over Wauneta-Palisade. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southwest also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Southwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyra Nelms, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Anastasia Gallegos, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Southwest's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Wauneta-Palisade, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Southwest will head out on the road to face off against Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] on Tuesday. Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Wauneta-Palisade will take on Perkins County at TBD on Friday.
