On Thursday, the St. Johns Redskins faced the Show Low Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Johns fell 44-31 to Show Low. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Johns has scored all season.
Despite the loss, St. Johns still got an impressive performance from Josie Overson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Leading Show Low to victory were Raquel Wilson and Mikenzie Kulish. Wilson scored ten points along with six steals, while Kulish scored 16 points along with three steals. The game was Wilson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Aubrie Wilson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
St. Johns' loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Show Low, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
St. Johns will be home for the holidays to greet Greyhills Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greyhills Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Show Low, they will head out on the road to face off against Chinle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
