Basketball Recap: Southwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Bryce Wilcox and Emery Liddick

Southwood lost against Rochester back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southwood Knights lost 64-38 to the Rochester Zebras. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.

Despite the defeat, Southwood had strong showings from Emery Liddick, who went 7 of 13 en route to 19 points, and Bryce Wilcox, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Liddick a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Southwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rochester only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Drew Bowers, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals for Rochester. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Reinartz, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Southwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Rochester, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood has already played their next game (against North Miami), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Rochester has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Plymouth.
