The McDowell Titans waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Hibriten. This was payback for McDowell, who suffered a 64-50 defeat the last time these two teams met.
McDowell can attribute much of their success to Kensly Stewart, who scored 20 points. Sage Young was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
McDowell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Hibriten, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.
McDowell will be playing at home against Asheville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Asheville is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, meaning McDowell will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Hibriten, they will challenge Watauga at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hibriten in North Carolina (Watauga is ranked eighth, while Hibriten is ranked 55th).
