The Champion Golden Flashes will be playing at home against the Liberty Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Champion will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Champion struggled with assists on Monday (the Rebels had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Champion received a tough blow as they fell 55-40 to the Rebels. Champion has struggled against the Rebels recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isabella Meyer, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Haynie, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Champion struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Liberty won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were dealt a 56-23 defeat at the hands of LaBrae. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 756th, while the Vikings are ranked 296th).
Champion's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Everything came up roses for Champion against the Leopards when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 53-21 win. Will Champion repeat their success, or do the Leopards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
