The Vardaman Rams's game on Thursday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Bruce. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bruce's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Cole Williams, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Ankavious Glass was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Vardaman has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Bruce, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.
Vardaman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against North Pontotoc at 10:30 a.m. on December 22nd. North Pontotoc has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. Bruce is on the road again on Thursday and play against Wheeler at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th.
