After eight games on the road, Marquette Catholic is heading back home. They will take on the 21st Century Charter Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Marquette Catholic might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 44-39 to Culver Academies, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Marquette Catholic has not had much luck with Culver Academies recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Colson Dobre, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aleks Pecoski, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, 21st Century Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 84-65 to Indianapolis Crispus Attucks. While losing is never fun, 21st Century Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Indianapolis Crispus Attucks is ranked 14th).
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Lemetrius Williams and Dezmon Briscoe. Briscoe had a great game and dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 12 rebounds, and ten blocks. Meanwhile, Williams was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Marquette Catholic has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for 21st Century Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Marquette Catholic hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.3 points per game. It's a different story for 21st Century Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 66.9 points per game. The only thing between Marquette Catholic and another offensive beatdown is 21st Century Charter. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Marquette Catholic came up short against 21st Century Charter in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 76-65. Will Marquette Catholic have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
