The Seguin Matadors will square off against the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seguin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Seguin was able to grind out a solid victory over Victoria East, taking the game 37-30.
A big part of Seguin's win came down to the chemistry between Corey Dailey and his top target Nik Henry. Dailey threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns while Henry picked up 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Henry also racked up 18 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Seguin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Seguin wouldn't let Victoria East keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Seguin can thank Dylan Eisen-Sepeda and Jared Rogers for forcing both of them.
Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Friday. They were outmatched by Smithson Valley on the road and fell 42-10. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Rangers are ranked 118th).
The victory got Seguin back to even at 2-2. As for Boerne-Champion, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
