After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Owyhee, the Meridian Warriors were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 59-51 win over Sunrise Mountain. Given Meridian's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in Idaho, while Sunrise Mountain is ranked 82nd in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sunrise Mountain's loss came despite strong showings from Caden Hammond and Jj Martin. Hammond scored 11 points along with five assists, while Martin scored 16 points. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him.
Meridian's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Sunrise Mountain, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
