Columbus North is 10-0 against Bloomington North since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Columbus North Bull Dogs will head out on the road to take on the Bloomington North Cougars at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Columbus North has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Bloomington North will arrive with six straight victories.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Columbus North, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Silver Creek. While losing is never fun, Columbus North can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Silver Creek is ranked 18th).
Despite the loss, Columbus North had strong showings from Olivia Johnson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Miley McClellan, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bloomington North didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Brownstown Central on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory.
Columbus North bumped their record down to 10-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bloomington North, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Columbus North was able to grind out a solid win over Bloomington North in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 46-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbus North since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
