The Paris Greyhounds will venture away from home to face off against the Nicholas County Bluejackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Paris made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bourbon County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Colonels by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Nicholas County never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Calvary Christian with a sharp 17-0 win. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bluejackets yet this season.
Sidney Sexton made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Nicholas County got a massive performance out of Bristal Caswell, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, Caswell posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mady Adams, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Nicholas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Nicholas County and bumps their season record up to 6-20. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Paris, they moved to 16-11-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Paris might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Nicholas County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
