The Pinnacle Timberwolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They fell 46-38 to KIPP Denver Collegiate. The Pinnacle lost against KIPP Denver Collegiate in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-13 score last time.
Despite the defeat, The Pinnacle had strong showings from Alexis Kohl, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Stephany Sanchez, who scored 15 points. That was a full 39.5% of The Pinnacle's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
KIPP Denver Collegiate found their leader in underclassman Nicole Ricalday, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 15 steals. It was the first time this season that Ricalday scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Shaila Ramirez, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 steals.
The Pinnacle's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
The Pinnacle will head out on the road to challenge Fort Lupton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fort Lupton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, they will head out on the road to take on Lake County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
