The Cactus Cobras are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Moon Valley Rockets at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Cactus put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Mohave as they made off with a 16-2 victory. While the Cobras didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Raven Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Anderson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs.
In other batting news, Cactus let Jackson Dunphy and Eli Torres run wild. Dunphy got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Torres went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Dunphy has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Marrufo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cactus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Moon Valley put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Tempe. The Rockets blew past the Buffaloes 10-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.
James Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Lee was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Henry Garcia and John Lowndes did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Lowndes went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Samuel Peterson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Cactus' record now sits at 4-1. As for Moon Valley, their record is now 2-0.
Cactus got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Moon Valley by a conclusive 12-6 score. Will the Cobras repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
