The Roseville Tigers will square off against the Yuba City Honkers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Roseville turned things around against Nevada Union on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Miners by a score of 9-5.
The team relied heavily on McKenna Patterson, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Solorio, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Patterson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Roseville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Yuba City never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Nevada Union 15-0. With that win, the Honkers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Maddison Stead was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Chloe Gonzales was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Naiema Cawthon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Yuba City's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Roseville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Roseville couldn't quite get it done against Yuba City in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 4-0. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
