Carlynton and Apollo Ridge are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Vikings on Monday. Carlynton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Carlynton and Northgate had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars put the hurt on the Flames with a sharp 21-4 victory on Friday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Graydon Harvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Harvey was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Carlynton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Carlynton got a massive performance out of Isaac Anker, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The Cougars are undefeated when Anker posts three or more hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Michael Jenkins was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Carlynton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Apollo Ridge made easy work of Leechburg on Thursday and carried off a 9-1 win.
Like Carlynton, Apollo Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Noah Stewart. On the mound, Stewart tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gage Wingard didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Stewart went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run, while Wingard went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Wingard has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Alex Clawson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Richard Peach also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Carlynton's record now sits at 5-6. As for Apollo Ridge, their record is now 5-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Carlynton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Apollo Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carlynton couldn't quite get it done against Apollo Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 7-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
