After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dakota, Genoa-Kingston was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Cogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Elizabeth Davis, who gave up just four hits to keep Dixon off the board.
On the hitting side, Olivia Vasak was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Brooklynn Ordlock was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Genoa-Kingston moved to 8-11-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Dixon, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Genoa-Kingston will head out to face off against North Boone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Cogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dixon, they will venture away from home to square off against Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
