Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Destiny Christian). Everything went their way against the Southeast Spartans on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-11 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Jase Blackwell made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Destiny Christian is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Blackwell was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Robert Rose was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Tyler Rose was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
The victory (which was Destiny Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 12-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Southeast, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Destiny Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southeast, they will face off against Star-Spencer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
