After flying high against the West Delaware Hawks last Monday, the Western Dubuque Bobcats came back down to earth. Western Dubuque fell to Liberty 56-51. Western Dubuque has struggled against Liberty recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Liberty was led to victory by Gage Kampman and Maddoc Coapstick. Kampman scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Coapstick scored 18 points. Kampman also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Hughes, who scored eight points.
Western Dubuque's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Liberty, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Dubuque will take on Dubuque Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dubuque Senior knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Western Dubuque likes a good challenge. Liberty is on the road again on Friday and play against Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th.
