The Rockingham County Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Atkins Camels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockingham County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
It was a proper cat-fight when Rockingham County faced off against Eastern Guilford on Friday. Rockingham County blew past Eastern Guilford 19-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cole Behe made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Hudson Deel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nate Revis, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Rockingham County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Atkins made sure to put some runs up on the board against Ben L. Smith on Monday. Atkins put the hurt on Ben L. Smith with a sharp 17-9 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Camels as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Rockingham County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Atkins, their record now sits at 3-8.
Rockingham County might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Atkins in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Rockingham County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
