The Dwight Morrow Maroon Raiders gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over River Dell. This was payback for Dwight Morrow, who suffered a 54-38 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Loss or not, River Dell got some senior leadership from Liam Hickey who scored 17 points along with five assists and Sean Golden who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Phil Doornheim was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Dwight Morrow's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for River Dell, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dwight Morrow will take on Tenafly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for River Dell, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Lee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
