The Valley View Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Old Forge Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Old Forge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Valley View, who comes in off a win.
Valley View barely beat Holy Redeemer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Valley View was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Holy Redeemer on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly ten runs.
Abbi Call made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Call was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Moyles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Cora Castellani was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Old Forge came up short against Palmetto Ridge on Friday, falling 12-4.
Juliette DeStefano made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate O'Hearn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Valley View pushed their record up to 2-0-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Old Forge, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Everything went Valley View's way against Old Forge in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Valley View made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley View since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
