The El Camino Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 281 points over their last four matchups.
El Camino posted their biggest victory since November 22, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Oceanside 57-37. Given El Camino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Oceanside is ranked 641st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead El Camino to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shawn Sidiqi, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sidiqi has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Pomare, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 67-45 loss at the hands of Carlsbad. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Costa Canyon has scored all season.
El Camino has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for La Costa Canyon, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4.
El Camino came out on top in a nail-biter against La Costa Canyon in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 60-57. Does El Camino have another victory up their sleeve, or will La Costa Canyon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
