Heritage Christian is 8-2 against Maranatha since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Heritage Christian Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Maranatha Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Heritage Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Valley Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Heritage Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Defenders with points to spare, taking the game 63-49. Given Heritage Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Valley Christian is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Maranatha pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Village Christian on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin.
Maranatha's loss came about despite a quality game from Trevor Cohen, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Cohen's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Chris Smith, who scored six points along with five assists and two steals.
Heritage Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Maranatha, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Heritage Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Maranatha in their previous meeting last Tuesday, winning 54-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
