The Sports Leadership & Management Giants had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 77-68 win over Village Academy on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sports Leadership & Management found their leader in underclassman Dennis Pierre, who shot 7-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Pierre has scored at least a third of Sports Leadership & Management's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Sports Leadership & Management's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Village Academy, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sports Leadership & Management will face off against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Village Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Sheridan Hills Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Tigers like a good challenge.
