It was a good run, but the Frontier Academy Wolverines unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellington. Frontier Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wellington apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Frontier Academy had strong showings from Emily Gesick, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, and Macee Flores, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Gesick is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Wellington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brookelyn Jones out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Essay, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Frontier Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frontier Academy will take on Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Wellington, they will head out on the road to face off against Poudre Community Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
