After flying high against the Lake City Community 14ers on Friday, the Creede Miners came back down to earth. Creede was the victim of a rough 58-38 loss at the hands of Cripple Creek-Victor on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Creede has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Creede's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Roden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Roden has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Fazio, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Cripple Creek-Victor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Lohmeier, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lohmeier has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Myles Durham, who scored 11 points.
Creede has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.
Creede will be playing at home against Sierra Grande at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, they will head out on the road to face off against Pikes Peak Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pikes Peak Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
