The Bloomfield Christian School Defenders will head out on the road to square off against the Washtenaw Christian Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomfield Christian School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Washtenaw Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
Even though Livingston Christian scored an imposing 74 points on Saturday, Bloomfield Christian School still came out on top. Bloomfield Christian School rang in the new year with a 84-74 win over Livingston Christian. Given Bloomfield Christian School's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Livingston Christian is ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomfield Christian School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Thomas out in front who scored 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Backos, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Washtenaw Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season back in December of 2023. They blew past Hope Christian Academy 65-38 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Washtenaw Christian Academy has posted since November 16, 2023.
Bloomfield Christian School pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Washtenaw Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Bloomfield Christian School skirted past Washtenaw Christian Academy 62-60 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bloomfield Christian School since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
