The Mountain View Toros will challenge the Highland Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Skyline on Monday. The Toros blew past the Coyotes 12-1.
Allison Robles made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Hadlie Goodman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Paige Hunt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Highland waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jaguars a 21-0 shutout.
Highland also got a great performance from Kennedie Nelson as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Highland let Alena Mascarenas and Makayla Royer run wild. Mascarenas fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Royer went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Royer has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Norton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Highland's win bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 16-8.
Highland's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Mountain View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 strikeouts. Will Mountain View keep running through batters, or will the Hawks buck the trend?
Mountain View couldn't quite get it done against Highland when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 5-1. Will the Toros have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
