The McNair Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 113-34 loss at the hands of Weston Ranch. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McNair has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why McNair lost, one person who can't be blamed is DaWaine Watson. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
McNair struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Weston Ranch pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.
Leading Weston Ranch to victory were Mateen Rafiq and Darrion Lilly. Rafiq scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Lilly scored 36 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lilly has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Richard Banks, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and six assists.
This is the second loss in a row for McNair and nudges their season record down to 5-14. As for Weston Ranch, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McNair will take on Chavez at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Chavez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Weston Ranch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
