Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 2 on the offensive boards, a fact the Kenesaw Blue Devils proved on Monday. They came out on top against Axtell by a score of 26-13. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Kenesaw has scored all year.
Kenesaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jorja Uden led the charge by scoring ten points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Avery Kelley, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Axtell struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Kenesaw and bumps their season record up to 4-3. As for Axtell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Kenesaw will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wilcox-Hildreth at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Axtell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
