The Floydada Whirlwinds were the 42-18 winner over the Tahoka Bulldogs when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Floydada fell just short of Tahoka by a score of 36-34. Floydada gained 81 more yards on the day, but it was Tahoka that made the best of use of them.
Despite the loss, Floydada still got an impressive performance from Tyrean Henderson, who threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Braun Hobbs also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Tahoka got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zane Garvin out in front who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Arguello, who picked up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Floydada has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Tahoka, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floydada will take on Post at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tahoka, they will head out on the road to face off against Olton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olton will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
