It was a good run, but the San Diego Academy Cavaliers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 43-33 to Mountain Empire. San Diego Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mountain Empire apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2018.
Despite the defeat, San Diego Academy saw an underclassman step up: Josue Flores scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Flores has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Love, who scored eight points.
Andrew Sepulveda was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds for Mountain Empire. Sepulveda has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maximo Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
San Diego Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7. As for Mountain Empire, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Diego Academy will take on Monarch at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monarch is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Mountain Empire, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ocean View Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
