The Whitehouse Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Nacogdoches Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 978 yards in their previous games.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Whitehouse turned things around against Jacksonville on Friday. They really took it to the Fightin' Indians for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-21 victory. With the Wildcats ahead 31-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Whitehouse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zion Alexander led the charge by picking up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 84 yards and one score. Alexander really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Zamajeigh Mosley helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards and a rushing touchdown.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Nacogdoches and Hallsville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Dragons made off with a 21-20 win over the Bobcats.
Nacogdoches' win came from a few key players Whitehouse will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Micah Lockett, who picked up 139 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. His receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 139 receiving yards. Rj Whitaker also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Nacogdoches' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Caden Thomas, Jeremiah Sanders-Garrett, and Idarius Whitaker, who each picked up one sack apiece. Nacogdoches got some further help from Landon Sherrard: he forced one fumble, made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Nacogdoches' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Whitehouse, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Whitehouse has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 177.7 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Nacogdoches has preferred to attack from the air: they average 325.2 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Everything came up roses for Whitehouse against Nacogdoches in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
