New Albany extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 9-7 in the process. Everything went their way against the Providence Pioneers as they made off with an 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
As for Providence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 3.92 runs allowed.
For Providence's part, Cole Huett put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Huett gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.
Huett wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Straub, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Another was Kalen Sipes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
