The Monument Valley Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monument Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Monument Valley made easy work of Shiprock and carried off a 19-4 win.
Adrianna Dominguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Monument Valley got a massive performance out of Angel Haskan, who scored three runs while going 5-for-5. Hailey Etsitty was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-6.
Monument Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge came up short against Thatcher on Thursday, falling 20-2. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Blue Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Parker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Blue Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Monument Valley, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monument Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Blue Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monument Valley beat Blue Ridge 14-10 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Monument Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Blue Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
