The Avon Panthers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Diman RVT Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. One thing working in Avon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
Avon put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Westport as Avon made off with a 61-36 victory. With Avon ahead 31-2 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Avon can attribute much of their success to Nyisah Miranda, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, and Josiah Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds. Guerrier also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashad Bailey, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Diman RVT's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Upper Cape Cod RVT.
Avon's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24 points. As for Diman RVT, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Avon beat Diman RVT 56-44 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will Avon repeat their success, or does Diman RVT have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
