Baseball Recap: Ignacio Gets the Win

Ignacio posted their closest win since May 18, 2024 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Dove Creek Bulldogs 10-8. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ambrose V and William M did most of the damage at the plate: V scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while M scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave M a new career-high. Easton S also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Ignacio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in eight consecutive contests.

Ignacio's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Dove Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Ignacio will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Nucla at 2:00 p.m. As for Dove Creek, they will square off against Sierra Grande at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
